HEALTH ENHANCEMENT AND RIGHTS UPHOLDING FOR GIRLS

he HER AIM project is dedicated to safeguarding the health, education, and dignity of adolescent girls in Kampot province. In many local schools, inadequate water and sanitation (WASH) infrastructure and a severe lack of menstrual hygiene resources force girls to miss classes, heavily compromising their academic futures and overall well-being.

To combat this, the project is constructing and renovating 40 gender-friendly toilets, complete with incinerators and year-round water sources, alongside dedicated school health rooms. We pair these vital facility upgrades with the distribution of over 28,000 sustainable, biodegradable menstrual pouches, directly empowering over 2,200 girls to manage their menstruation safely and confidently without pausing their education.

Beyond physical upgrades, HER AIM works to dismantle deep-seated cultural stigmas and social prejudices. Implemented by RHAC, the initiative trains teachers to deliver targeted Menstrual Hygiene Management (MHM) and Comprehensive Sexuality Education (CSE). Crucially, we actively engage boys, male educators, and parents in inclusive school health committees to foster a highly supportive, stigma-free environment where adolescent girls can thrive academically and personally.
